It's an irresistible thought The experiences of conception and pregnancy are wondrous and amazing. Once the new baby arrives, the family embarks upon a very special journey, an experience that will grow and expand for the rest of their lives. How can you prepare for your conception? How can you have the easiest and healthiest pregnancy? How can you give your newborn the best start in life, the healthiest and happiest beginning to his or her journey? Join us in our exploration of the Maharishi Ayurvedic Medicine approaches to Planning for ConceptionThe tradition of Ayurveda has a significant body of knowledge that addressees the creation of new life, from preconception to the age of 25, the age at which the structure of the human brain becomes fully developed. Every parent-to-be cherishes the desire to give birth to an happy, healthy, intelligent baby who has the capacity to grow into a truly great citizen of the world. To prepare for conception, both the mother and the father need to be strong, happy and in good health. All systems of both, from the subtlest to the most outward, will share in the building of a new healthy and balanced life. From the viewpoint of Maharishi Ayurveda, conception is not considered to be simply a physical phenomenon. In order to create a child who will be mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually healthy, both the woman and the man must also be similarly healthy and balanced. First, they must share a happy and supportive relationship. Physically, the woman must have a healthy uterus and ovum, and the man must have healthy sperm. For both, a healthy genitourinary tract and overall good health are important. Maharishi Ayurveda explains that there are seven types of bodily tissues. These are:
The shukra tissue itself is created as part of a long chain of metabolic transformations. These transformations start with the digestion of food and include the transformation of food to nutrient fluid, blood, muscle, fat, bone, bone marrow and, finally, to shukra tissue. Healthy shukra tissue, according to Maharishi Ayurveda, depends on the health of all the other tissues in the body. Since this process begins with food, it is important for the food eaten by the woman and the man to be fresh and organically-grown. Maharishi Ayurveda recommends certain foods that enhance shukra dhatu in both women and men - and certain other foods that will tend to depress these functions. Other important lifestyle routines relate to enjoying one's daily activity, managing stress, and getting deep and restful sleep. The Transcendental Meditation Technique has been verified by rigorous scientific studies to reduce anxiety up to 3-4 times as effectively as other mental techniques. The TM technique is recommended for all phases of bringing a new life into the world. In fact, it is a technique that is greatly beneficial throughout a person's life. A 10 year old child can practice TM with an adjustment for the time practiced according to their age. There is even a special technique that has also been verified by research, which can be enjoyed by children between the ages of 4 and 10 years of age. Maharishi Ayurveda's fertility-enhancing program occurs in two phases. Phase I involves detoxifying the gastrourinary tract and preparing the area for conception. Phase II includes procedures to enhance shukra functioning and happiness in the relationship. Also see infertility. As an additional note, Maharishi Ayurveda indicates that conception can occur even into the late thirties or even forties. The Maharishi Ayurvedic doctors will have specific recommendations for individuals of these ages. |
